๐ŸŽ€ What I Wish Someone Had Told Me When I Started College

Starting college is exciting.

It's also a little scary.

Whether you're moving into a dorm, joining a sorority, meeting new people, or simply stepping into a new chapter of life, college can feel like a whirlwind of emotions.

If I could sit down with every college student over a cup of coffee, there are a few things I would want them to know.

โค๏ธ It's Okay Not to Have Everything Figured Out

One of the biggest misconceptions about college is that everyone else knows exactly what they're doing.

They don't.

Some students arrive with a detailed plan. Others are still discovering their interests, goals, and passions.

Both are perfectly okay.

College isn't just about earning a degree. It's about learning who you are and who you want to become.

Give yourself permission to grow.

๐ŸŒธ Don't Compare Your Journey to Someone Else's

It's easy to look around and think everyone else has it together.

Someone always seems more confident, more involved, or more successful.

But remember:

You're only seeing the highlight reel.

Everyone faces challenges, doubts, and difficult days.

Focus on your own progress instead of comparing yourself to someone else's path.

๐Ÿ’• Meaningful Friendships Take Time

One of the greatest gifts college can offer is connection.

But friendships don't happen overnight.

Be open to meeting new people.

Join organizations.

Attend events.

Say hello first.

The people who become lifelong friends often start as complete strangers.

๐ŸŽ€ Be Yourself During Recruitment

If you're participating in sorority recruitment, remember that the goal isn't to become someone else.

The goal is to find a place where you can be yourself.

The right chapter will appreciate your personality, your strengths, your dreams, and even your imperfections.

Trust the process and trust yourself.

๐Ÿ“š Stay Organized, But Give Yourself Grace

Between classes, events, assignments, and social activities, college can become overwhelming quickly.

Use a planner.

Take notes.

Set goals.

Create routines.

But also remember that perfection isn't required.

Some days will go exactly as planned.

Others won't.

That's life.

โ˜• My Final Advice

Be kind to yourself.

Celebrate small victories.

Ask for help when you need it.

Take chances.

Make memories.

And remember that you don't have to have your entire future figured out today.

College is a chapter of growth, learning, friendship, and self-discovery.

Enjoy the journey.

Because one day, you'll look back and realize that some of the moments you worried about most became the moments that helped shape who you are.
